Charleston, South Carolina - county real estate sales statistics for December, 2009
Here is a brief overview for the Charleston, SC MSA area, for more specific info regarding your neighborhood or your type of home, please give me a call at 843-209-9667 or email me at rsandin@carolinaone.com.
Charleston County: 313 properties were sold in Dec., 2009 at a median price of $250,000 compared to 239 sales at a median price of $235,000 in Dec., 2008
Berkeley County: 141 properties were sold in Dec., 2009 at a median price of $170,112 compared to 145 sales at a median price of $173,000 in Dec., 2008
Dorchester County: 146 properties were sold in Dec., 2009 at a median price of $167,830 compared to 142 sales at a median price of $195,150 in Dec., 2008
As you can see from the above numbers, sale were up a significant amount in Charleston County mainly due to the first time home buyers, many who were scheduled to close in Nov. pushed back to Dec. once theu tax credit was extended. Home sales were pretty consistant with last year in Berkeley & Dorchester counties. The news of the Boeing plant and the extended tax credit will hopefully stabilize the Charleston market a little sooner than other areas of the country.
